Hiking Map for Kids
Our "KIWAKA"
Playful hiking combined with riddles and stories is possible with the children’s hiking maps (KIWAKA). Unlike hiking maps for adults, these hiking maps are especially for children. For example, visit Rolf the goblin in Saaldorf-Surheim and meet his friends on the Moosrunde.
What is special about the kids’ hiking map (KIWAKA)?
In German KIWAKA is short for children’s hiking map. Unlike hiking maps for adults, the children’s hiking maps of the Biosphere Region are entirely for children. With this map, children can go on a journey of discovery. Children can use the map to find their own way through nature and find interesting things to see. The accompaniment of parents / adults is recommended.
The map is the guide, so there are intentionally no further signs along the way. For some symbols you can find a lot of information and exciting stories on the back of the map. This map is intended to motivate children to experience nature as an exciting space of discovery and to find their own ways.
Several KIWAKAs are being created in the Biosphere Region. One is already ready to use!
KIWAKA 1: Visiting Rolf the goblin in Saaldorf-Surheim
Rolf the goblin takes you on a discovery tour through the moss. He introduces you to his friends. For example, “Salamandra”. She is a fire salamander and in the course of her life she changes from a larva that lives in the water and breathes through gills to a salamander that lives in the forest and has lungs.
In his home, the Erlebnisstation in Saaldorf-Surheim, he tells you about delicious wild plants that you can actually eat. But be careful, some plants are poisonous.
